PELHAM – Former Pelham Police Chief Larry Palmer formally entered the race for Pelham City Council Place 2. He filed his qualification paperwork Thursday morning, July 9, at City Hall.

“Pelham is my home, and I want nothing more than to see our city thrive,” Palmer said. “Since my retirement as Chief of Police, I’ve looked for ways to give back to a city that gave so much to me. It was clear to me that I still want to serve. I want to serve our residents. I want to serve our businesses. I want to serve the city employees that I worked alongside, many of them for decades.”

Palmer graduated from Thompson High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Faulkner University, and he is also a graduate of the 209th session of the prestigious FBI National Academy.

Under Palmer’s leadership, the Pelham Police Department’s reputation as a modern, professional, progressive law enforcement agency was further enhanced.

“I can assure you that if elected to the Pelham City Council, I will lead our city with integrity,” Palmer stated. “I will listen, and I will work to keep Pelham progressive and competitive.”

Palmer outlined his service goals for voters on his website, Larrypalmerforpelham.com.

“This municipal campaign season will be unlike any other due to COVID-19. For this reason, I encourage voters to visit my website and Facebook page to learn more about me,” said Palmer.

The Pelham Municipal Election is Tuesday, Aug. 25.
