HELENA – A meet-and-greet event for candidates in the upcoming Helena municipal elections is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Helena Sports Complex.

The event will be cohosted by the Helena Business Association and Christi Wilson and will feature candidates for each place on the city council as well as the mayoral candidates.

According to HBA President Deedra George “candidates will have tables set up inside the Sports Complex and people will be able to walk around and speak to whomever.”

This event will allow residents to meet all of the candidates in a personal way to discuss issues that are important to them and make an informed choice when they go to vote in the municipal elections on Aug. 25.

Those participating in the event include mayoral candidates Brian Puckett and Scott Summerlin, Place 1 candidates Leigh Hulsey and Scot Newman, Place 2 candidates Dominga Gardner and Chris VanCleave, Place 3 candidate Alice Lobell, Place 4 candidates Tangee Edwards and Laura Joseph, and Place 5 candidate Hewy Woodman.

The event will have food trucks on location so that people can eat before or after the event. Social distancing will be encouraged and the number of people will be limited due to COVID-19. Per state guidelines masks will be required for the event.

There is also a mayoral debate between Puckett and Summerlin in the works for August with more information to come at a later date.
