ALABASTER – Children hoping to take part in the Alabaster Parks and Recreation Department’s youth basketball program don’t have to wait much longer as registration is now open for the 2024-2025 season.

Alabaster youth basketball online registration is open until Sept. 29 at 11 p.m. In-person registration is available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alabaster Parks and Recreation office at 200 Depot St. until Sept. 27.

“We’re looking forward to another exciting season of youth basketball for the girls and boys of the city of Alabaster,” Community Programs Manager Morgan Lawley said.

Youth basketball is open to girls and boys in kindergarten through ninth grade. Ninth graders who have turned 15 before Sept. 1 are not eligible to play and kindergarteners must turn five before Sept. 1 to be eligible with no exceptions.

In order to play, a fee of $120 is required and includes a jersey and shorts. There is a non-resident fee of an additional 10 percent per child. A multi-child discount of 10 percent is offered after the oldest child is paid in full. The city accepts cash, debit, visa, Master Card and Discover card as forms of payment but does not accept checks. Registration forms will not be accepted or processed without payment.

“The program can help forge friendships that last a lifetime as well as offer the opportunity to learn the concepts of a team sport,” Lawley said.

There will be not fittings for uniforms, however samples will be available at observations for those who wish to confirm their child’s size. The location for observations will be announced at a later date. The youth basketball games will take place in a yet-to-be-determined gym of Alabaster City Schools.
