NORTH SHELBY – Grier Feldman, Miss Shelby County’s Teen 2024 and a junior at Oak Mountain High School, plans to spread cheer during the coming holiday season by hosting the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at Inverness Elementary School.
The event will be open to participants in eighth grade and younger and hopes to deliver a day of festive fun and friendly competition. The Miss Merry Christmas pageant will not only celebrate the spirit of Christmas but also support a charitable cause.
“By participating in the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, you are not only creating cherished memories but also making a meaningful difference in the lives of those fighting pediatric cancer,” Feldman said.
All proceeds from the event will benefit State of Love. Founded by Feldman in 2015, State of Love is an outreach program dedicated to providing support and smiles to pediatric cancer patients and their families.
“As part of my personal platform I have been able to donate to pediatric cancer patients across the state and at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham,” Feldman said. “State of Love gives them a moment to forget about the battle they face and just be a kid. Through my platform I have been able to work with local service organizations, university bookstores, companies and private individuals who help to provide for these amazing kids. I look forward to continuing to have the opportunity to raise awareness about pediatric cancer and give people a way to make a difference in the lives of others.”
The Miss Merry Christmas Pageant will feature various age groups and include categories such as People’s Choice and Overall Photogenic, ensuring that participants have the opportunity to showcase their talents and holiday spirit.
During the pageant, contestants will be judged on poise, stage presence, beauty and personality. Attire and makeup need to be age appropriate and Sunday dress or pageant attire is acceptable. Winners will receive a crown and sash while runners-up will receive Glitter Snowflake medals.
Tickets for the event will be available for purchase at the door, with all funds raised going directly towards supporting State of Love’s mission of bringing smiles and hope to young cancer patients.
