Pelham man arrested for producing child pornography, rape

ALABASTER – Angel Jesus Ramirez Jimenez, 22, of Pelham has been arrested by the Alabaster Police Department on two counts of producing child pornography, four counts of rape in the second degree, one count of sodomy in the second degree and one of count of electronic solicitation of a child.
The arrest comes after an investigation uncovered an inappropriate relationship between Ramirez Jimenez and a juvenile. According to court records, at least two rape charges are in relation to alleged offenses committed against a 15 year old girl.
The production of child pornography is a class A felony and carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and $60,000 in fines. Rape in the second degree, sodomy second degree and electronic solicitation of a child are all class B felonies. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and $30,000 in fines.
“The Alabaster Police Department will continue to fight for and prosecute on behalf of juvenile victims,” APD Detective Andrew Rowan said. “As long as there are predators out there, we will be vigilant in protecting and seeking justice.”
Ramirez Jimenez was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Monday, Sept. 9 with a total bond of $300,000.
