ALABASTER – Residents will have the opportunity to try a sampling of what Alabaster has to offer while supporting local students during the fourth annual Taste of Alabaster.
The Taste of Alabaster will take place on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6-9 p.m. at Siluria Brewing Company.
“Taste of Alabaster is a fun way to discover local great restaurants and support the (Alabaster Business Alliance) Scholarship Fund,” ABA President Tracy Coyne said.
The event will offer plenty of room for attendees to pick up a sample from each of the booths which will be spread out both inside and outside of Siluria Brewing Company.
“We are actually going to do a lot more, “ Coyne said. “We’re set up outside, so we’re expanding the event. We’re able to do more with the outside space.”
The following businesses have announced their participation in the Taste of Alabaster:
- Joe’s Italian
- Gumbo to Geaux
- Buddy’s Bar-B-Q
- Brother Paul’s BBQ
- Whisk Confections
- Nonnie’s Little Bakey
- Birds and Burgers
- Dolly’s Diner (formerly known as Golden Fish and Chicken)
Tickets for the Taste of Alabaster are $20 and provide entry to the event.
“Once inside, you can taste any or all of the restaurants that are participating,” Coyne said. “You can also purchase any of the drinks on tap with Siluria Brewing.”
All proceeds from the event go toward funding the Alabaster Business Alliance Scholarship Fund and the ABA is hoping to sell 200 tickets to this year’s festivities. The scholarships will be given to graduating seniors from Thompson High School.
“We’re looking to pour into the next generation of business leaders though the scholarship fund,” Coyne said.
Last year’s installment of the Taste of Alabaster was able to raise approximately $7,000 for the scholarship fund and with the past three events put together, the ABA has awarded 18 scholarships to local students.
“The Taste of Alabaster has become a dual-purpose event,” Coyne said. “The community gets to see and meet so many restaurants and vendors that they didn’t know were around and, at the same time, support the ABA Scholarship Fund.”
Alongside the event’s food and drinks, The Ringers will provide live music to entertain guests.
The Alabaster Business Alliance will continue to look for and accept more sponsors for the event until Saturday, Oct. 5. Those interested may sign up at Alabasterbusiness.org or contact Coyne at 205-266-3158.
