PELL CITY – After a close first quarter, the Thompson Warriors executed a dominant road win at Pell City, defeating the Panthers 78-33 on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Pell City High School.

Ethan Hudson led the way for Thompson with 22 points in the game, with half of his points coming in the fourth quarter. For Pell City, Khali Thompson paced the team in scoring with 11 total points, with eight of them coming in the final period.

The game started off tight, with Thompson leading 16-11 at the end of the first quarter. Carson McKenney had five points to lead the Warriors in the first quarter, with Hudson not far behind with four points.

Pell City camped out from 3-point land, with all of their points in the first quarter coming from beyond the arc sans two free throws from Jemareo Clegg.

The second, third, and fourth quarters solely belonged to Thompson, as they combined their sound offense and pesky defense to outscore Pell City 18-6 in the second quarter and 22-8 in both the third and fourth quarters.

Out of the eight players who saw the court for the Warriors, half of them scored in double figures: Hudson with 22, Jaden Love with 16, McKenney with 12, and Daeshaun Morrissette with 10.

Pell City only saw one player in Khali Thompson cross the double-digit mark in points, and coughed up nine turnovers in the ballgame, compared to Thompson’s two turnovers.

The free-throw battle also belonged to Thompson, who went 13-for-18 from the charity stripe. Pell City, on the other hand, went 4-for-10 from the line, as Thompson’s defense made few mistakes while creating those nine turnovers.

Up next for Thompson is a date with the Cullman Bearcats at home on Monday, Dec. 9. Thompson currently sits at 6-3 overall on the young season, while Pell City has yet to find the win column, sitting at 0-4.
