NEW SITE – The Vincent Yellow Jackets picked up another big win in Class 2A, Area 8 play as they went on the road and got past the Horseshoe Bend Generals.

Vincent defeated Horseshoe Bend 67-39 on Friday, Jan. 24 at Horseshoe Bend High School to improve to 4-1 in area play.

Taye Robertson and Skylar McCrimon powered the Jackets offense early in the game. Robertson scored seven points in the first and McCrimon added four as the pair combined for 12 of their team’s 14 first-quarter points.

Vincent had the slight edge over the Generals at the end of the quarter and led 14-10, but the lead grew soon enough.

The Jackets offense erupted for 22 points in the second quarter, including seven from McCrimon to get him into double figures, six from Camari Keller and four from Landon Archer.

Five different Vincent players helped their team continue to outpace Horseshoe Bend and take a 36-20 lead into the halftime break.

Keller joined McCrimon in double figures thanks to six third-quarter points, but McCrimon’s big night continued with his third 3-pointer of the game and a pair of free throws.

The Jackets defense continued to keep the Generals at bay, allowing just eight points in the third quarter and increasing the lead to 51-28 at the end of the third.

Vincent kept its foot on the gas all the way until the end as Robertson, McCrimon and Keller each closed out their totals with field goals.

The double-digit lead also allowed the bench to get involved, including Will Alldrift, who scored his first eight points of the night in the fourth while hitting a pair of 3-pointers.

In the end, the Jackets closed out the 28-point win to remain one of the top teams in the area.

McCrimon led Vincent with a game-high 20 points while Keller finished with 14 points. Robertson made it three Jackets in double figures with 11 points. In addition, Alldrift scored eight points, Archer had six points and Zahmir McMillian earned five points.
