HOOVER – Jefferson State is now offering a new customer service program at its Shelby-Hoover campus.
The program is a partnership with Alabama Power, ALFA, Ask Telecommunications, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Alabama, Protective Life Insurance and Spire. An information session about the program will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. in Room 156 of the Judy Merritt Health Sciences Building at the Shelby-Hoover campus.
Leah Bigbee, Jefferson State’s Dean of Workforce Education, gave more background on the program.
“Jefferson State is thrilled to offer a comprehensive training program designed to equip individuals with the essential skills needed for success in customer service careers,” Bigbee said in a statement. “This program not only prepares participants for high-demand roles but also opens doors to career opportunities with some of the top companies across the state. By partnering with local industries, we ensure that our training is aligned with real-world needs, helping graduates build a strong foundation for a rewarding career.”
The eight-week program starts on Tuesday, April 1. Classes for the program will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shelby-Hoover campus. Participants will be taught effective communication, problem-solving and sales skills as well as customer relationships management and cultural competence.
Tuition for the program is $1,000, and scholarships are available. Applications are open through Tuesday, Feb. 18.
