BIRMINGHAM – Sozo Children International, a Birmingham, Alabama, based nonprofit ministry dedicated to serving at-risk children in Uganda, will hold the Sozo Shindig at Helena Hollow on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sozo Shindig will feature more than 25 activities including horseback rides, a petting zoo, zip line, bouncy house, food trucks and much more! Admission is $35 for individual tickets and includes access to all activities as well as food from the food and snack trucks. Family packages are available.

“We are thrilled to announce our upcoming event designed for families,” said CEO Suzanne Owens. “This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some quality family fun while also making a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children in Uganda.”

“Our ministry will celebrate 15 years of rescuing children and changing lives for Jesus this spring and it means a lot to us to give back to our local Birmingham family,” Owens said.

Sozo Children serves children in Uganda who have been rescued from extreme circumstances such as abuse, abandonment and trafficking. The ministry provides housing, healthcare, counseling and an education to more than 135 children in Uganda.

Locally, Sozo operates an upscale thrift store, Sozo Trading Co., in Avondale which provides a portion of the funding for the ministry and serves as a launching point for local outreach opportunities—including job training programs for people with disabilities and a textile recycling program which keeps more than 40 tons of discarded clothing out of local landfills each year.

Admission to Sozo Shindig will help Sozo reach its spring fundraising goal of $75,000. Corporate sponsorship packages are available. To learn more about Sozo Children, become a sponsor or to reserve tickets for Sozo Shindig, visit Sozochildren.org/sozo-shindig.
