PELHAM – With the support of family, friends and colleagues, Dr. Nicholas Kentros cut a ribbon to signify a new era of dental care in Pelham.
Pelham Dental Care, which has been an integral piece of Pelham healthcare for decades, opened its new location on Friday, Feb. 14. The dental practice’s new office is located at 201 Amphitheater Road, near the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena.
The ceremony featured food and refreshments, as well as the presence of the Shelby County Chamber, Pelham Mayor Gary Waters and Pelham City Council members to celebrate the grand opening.
Kentros gave background on the company’s history, including its beginnings decades ago at its previous Chandalar Drive location and how he assumed ownership of the practice.
“Pelham Dental Care has been operating originally under the name of Russell Turner, who was our senior doctor since 1978,” Kentros said. “We were in the Chandalar Drive building from about 1988 until last year. I started working with Dr. Turner in 2019, and we transitioned ownership in 2020. When we transitioned ownership, we rebranded as Pelham Dental Care, but it’s still carrying the same legacy of great compassionate care that Dr. Turner started way back in 1978.”
Turner transitioned ownership to Kentros on Feb. 1, 2020. The move to Amphitheater Road was precipitated by the practice’s continued expansion and growth.
“Our five-year anniversary was Feb. 1, and we just moved into this new facility,” Kentros said. “Doctor Jaclyn Bates joined me last summer, and we’ve just been growing and growing and growing. This is an opportunity to have a larger and more modern facility.”
Kentros touched on what Pelham Dental Care focuses on to provide Pelham residents with the best possible experience.
“We focus on patient experience,” Kentros said. “We want things to be comfortable, we want things to be fast and efficient. We’ve got intraoral scanning and 3D x-rays and 3D printers and dental mills, so we can do same-day crowns… we try to be as comprehensive as we can, trying to be a one-stop shop.”
The ubiquity of the services that Pelham Dental Care provides, according to Kentros, is not the only quality that sets it apart. He believes that the practice’s emphasis on patient care and experience makes Pelham Dental Care what it is today.
“The most important person in the building is the patient,” Kentros said. “Sometimes people ask me why I want to be a dentist. My two favorite things are that I like to smile, and I like to eat. So, I like to help people smile, and I like to help people eat.”
While Kentros is driven by these simple truths, Pelham Dental Care is still committed to advanced service to provide Pelham residents the best dental care in the city.
