MADISON – The Oak Mountain Eagles continued their dominant run through the state of Alabama as they secured another commanding shutout, this time on the road after an hour-and-a-half road trip up north.
Oak Mountain defeated the Bob Jones Patriots 5-0 on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Bob Jones High School to remain undefeated on the 2025 season.
Both teams entered the matchup ranked in the top 10 of the Class 7A coaches poll, with the Eagles at the No. 1 spot and the Patriots checking in at No. 10, making the win even more impressive as Oak Mountain dominated a fellow top-10 team.
What’s more, the victory extended the Eagles’ unbeaten streak to 38 games in a row, which remains the longest active streak in the state of Alabama and puts Oak Mountain seven positive results away from surpassing its own record of most consecutive games without a loss.
The Eagles got off to a red-hot start on offense. They scored not only the opening goal of the game but the first three goals to take the fight to Bob Jones in the early minutes of the match.
Oak Mountain’s defense held up its end of the pitch and didn’t allow any goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
From there, the Eagles continued to pour on the pressure and added two goals to their total in the final 40 minutes of the game. They also continued to stop the Patriots on the other end of the field to seal the 5-0 victory and remain undefeated on the season.
Five different goalscorers helped Oak Mountain take the victory, including Sam Collins, Gabe Capocci, Roy Soldevilla, Gerardo Rodriguez and Michael Dennis. Collins also netted an assist along with his goal, with Luke Jovanovich securing an assist for himself in addition to Collins’.
Collins led the team in shots with four while putting two on target. Dennis and Capocci also had multiple shots on goal while scoring on one of the two.
Alexander Chaidez-Cruz secured another clean sheet as he stopped both of the shots that he faced to earn two saves and take the win.
The 9-0 Eagles will now head south to play in the Wiregrass Cup. Oak Mountain will begin its run against Enterprise on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. before facing No. 9 Montgomery Academy on Friday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. and Dothan on Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m.
