FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Megan Montgomery Foundation has partnered with licensed professional counselors across parts of Alabama to educate the public at speaking engagements on healthy versus unhealthy relationships.
“We are honored that these licensed professional counselors are partnering with us for public speaking engagements,” said Meredith Montgomery-Price, Megan’s Foundation’s executive director. “It will help to meet the requests we get from across the state from civic clubs, schools, churches and other organizations.”
The volunteer speakers for the event will be following individuals:
- Dotti Bailey, DSW, Shelby County
- Michelle Bolton, LPC-S, Russellville and Franklin County
- Quinn Pearson, LPC, PhD, Florence
- Shelly Peed, PhD. Montgomery
- Lauren Self, Huntsville
- Leslie Weaver, LPC-S, Mobile
“They will use age-appropriate and evidence-based content to educate adults and students alike about healthy and unhealthy relationships, agencies and resources that are available to help, and how to apply for grants from Megan’s Foundation,” Montgomery-Price said. “This important initiative helps to further our mission of ‘preventing relationship violence before it starts,’ and we are grateful to the Women’s Foundation of Alabama for a matching grant to get this initiative off the ground.”

He is currently serving a 30-year sentence. The Foundation has awarded $270,000 in grants to nonprofits and educational institutions across Alabama to empower young people with information and skills to recognize unhealthy behaviors and hold their peers accountable before violence occurs.
