Missing Helena teen found, taken to hospital

HOOVER – A missing Helena teenager has been found by the Hoover Police Department and is currently recovering in the hospital and receiving medical treatment.

At approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, a 15-year-old male from Helena was reported as being missing in the area of South Shades Crest Road and Brocks Gap Parkway in Hoover.

Following the report, a large group of officers from the Hoover Police Department assembled and were joined by the Hoover Police Drone Unit, who began to search the area for the missing subject. 

During the search, CSX railroad was contacted to ensure that all trains were stopped in the area in order to aid the search efforts, while the members from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance from its K-9 unit.

At 3:51 p.m., the teenager was located with non-life-threatening injuries in the middle of the woods. The Hoover Fire Department assisted in the extrication of the boy and transported him to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, where he remains for treatment.

According to an official Facebook post from the Hoover Police Department, the cause of the child’s disappearance is still unknown and remains under investigation.
