HELENA – The Helena City Council honored and recognized the city’s newest Eagle Scout at its regularly scheduled council meeting on Monday, March 10 at Helena City Hall.
During the meeting the council brought up Cade Ciccazzo to talk about his project that he carried out to achieve the rank, which all boys scouts are required to do in order to complete the accomplishment.
Ciccazzo’s project consisted of him leading a group of people out to a local church to set up navigation and welcome signs along the prayer trail that leads to the Hillsboro subdivision, helping people to find their way as they walk it.
Helena City Council member Hewy Woodman took time to emphasize the trail’s beauty and how important this project is to the community.
“It’s a great trail everybody,” Woodman said. “It connects Riverwoods to the Hillsboro Trail and it goes through the church property. It’s a wonderful addition to the city.”
In other news, during the work session that occurred before the meeting, the council heard a presentation from the Helena Library Board on adding StoryWalk at Joe Tucker Park, which is on city property.
The concept behind the idea shows that the library would place each individual page of a story in posts along the trail, allowing those who walk along it to read while they are getting exercise, and the books would be replaced quarterly.
The council also went into executive session to discuss the various applicants that had applied to fill the vacant police chief position, which was previously filled by Brad Flynn before he announced his retirement.
During the meeting, the council also did first readings of annexation ordinances for Jeffery Burdette and his property at 145 Chestnut Lane, as well for Erika and Kyle Singletary, who own property at 4316 Tishberry Trail.
