PELHAM – Oak Mountain State Park is set to ring in the spring season with its annual Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market for Saturday, April 5.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the multi-use field by the Discover Shelby Pavilion off Terrace Drive. Featured events include egg hunts for kids ages 0-10, a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny, food and craft vendors, a fishing clinic, face painting, inflatables, pony rides, a scavenger hunt and more.

Anna Jones, an event coordinator with Oak Mountain State Park, highlighted why the event is so special to Oak Mountain State Park.

“Personally, the Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market each year is one of my favorite events that we host as a park just because it’s such a fun community event,” Jones said. “It’s not just an Easter egg hunt. We have additional activities that go on throughout the day that highlight all of the different things that our park has to offer.”

Jones added that the event is one of the largest OMSP events on a yearly basis in terms of attendance.

“If the weather is nice, we can see about 2,000-2,400 (people) throughout the day,” Jones said. “Because it does run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., it never feels crowded. It’s really well spaced out.”

The only cost for the event is an entry fee based on age. Ages three and under and any active military members or veterans get into the event free. Ages 4-11 are $2, ages 12-16 are $5 and ages 62 and up are $2.

“We are a very cost-effective option as far as getting together and celebrating the season and the specific (Easter) holiday,” Jones said. “We are able to accommodate a very large-size group and offer quite a variety of activities… there is really something for everyone (at OMSP).”
