NORTH SHELBY – Following the recent closure of one of Shelby County’s movie venues, an expanding gym franchise is taking charge and putting its face in Lee Branch.
Onelife Fitness is set to open a location at 801 Doug Baker Blvd., adding another location to its rapidly growing chain around the southeastern portion of the United States.
The gym takes the place of the AMC Classic Lee Branch 15 theater, which closed its doors for the final time on March 23 after 21 years of service to the North Shelby area.

Onelife Fitness is a membership gym that allows its members to come in and obtain a workout. It offers customers a chance to receive a regiment from personal trainers and an assisted stretch and recover session to help prepare the body. It also offers plenty of therapeutic recovery options, showcasing the newest and latest methods of helping people recover from their workout.
Onelife aims to offer plenty of amenities to pair with the workout options it provides. Members will have the chance to experience a multitude of options when it comes to cardio and strength training. They will also get to their sports facilities, indoor swimming pool and turf workout areas among other things.
The gym will also offer group fitness classes, boxing lessons, cycling workouts and even yoga sessions to get members in a calm state of mind.
The growing health club was founded in 2011 by Kirk and John Galiani. Since that time, Onelife has expanded across seven states, including Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia and Washington D.C.
The location in Lee Branch will be the franchise’s second in the state of Alabama and is a $14 million investment. Onelife Fitness is in the process of constructing a place in McCalla, where a preview center will be open in May and members can join by the end of 2025.
