COLUMBIANA – Senior citizens in Shelby County will soon have the opportunity to enjoy a free day of fun, food and fellowship during Shelby County’s annual Senior Picnic.
With the theme, “Sunshine Social,” Shelby County will treat senior citizens to a day full of activities, including live music and a selection of vendors at the Shelby County Exhibition Center on Wednesday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 86 Argo Road, Columbiana AL 35051.
“We are super excited to host the senior citizens of Shelby County,” said Mindy Dent, manager of community services for Shelby County. “This is a fun day of food, fellowship and music.”
With last year’s installment of the Shelby County Senior Picnic being the largest yet, Dent shared that the county is expecting to have more than 1,000 seniors visit Columbiana for the celebration this year. Currently, Shelby County has more than double the registrants it did at this time last year.
“We are super excited to celebrate and pull all the various senior citizen communities of the county together,” Dent said.
The Shelby County Senior Picnic will feature a selection of sponsors and vendors at the Exhibition Center who will have tables set up to share information and their services with the those in attendance.
“We will have a vendor exhibition where they can get swag and items and learn about different products and services,” Dent said.
