CALERA – Visitors inspected an assortment of vivid vintage vehicles and sports cars while enjoying food trucks and more during the Calera Car Show.
Calera Main Street hosted the Calera Car Show on Saturday, March 29 at the Calera Courtyard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1120 17th Ave, Calera, AL 35040. The event was first planned for March 15 but was delayed due to severe weather.
“It was a great success,” said Dee Starkey, Calera Main Street program assistant. “We had more than 50 cars arrive from all over the state and thousands of people came to enjoy the cars and to look around.”
During the event, Calera Main Street gave out trophies to winners in the following categories:
- People’s Choice Award
- Best Classic Car
- Best Classic Truck
- Best Other
While perusing the lineup of vehicles, visitors were able to enjoy a midday snack from a selection of vendors set up at the courtyard.
“We had Adventurer’s Coffee Co. doing hot dogs and Red Bull elixirs under the pavilion,” Starkey said. “We had Kona Ice and we had Hello Lemonade along with Creations Galore and Moore who had hamburgers as well as sweet treats inside.”
Participants in the Calera Car Show paid $10 per car entry with all of the funds collected awarded to Calera Main Street and the revitalization of downtown Calera.
“We’re bringing more activities and involvement to our community to be able to enrich our downtown area—showcasing our local businesses as well as part of the redevelopment of Main Street,” Starkey said.
