COLUMBIANA – Residents can look forward to a night of rhythmic performances of R&B, funk, soul and pop from across the decades as Lakeshore hits the stage at the Shelby County Arts Council.

Samford University’s flagship commercial band, Lakeshore, will perform at the Song Theater at Old Mill Square in Columbiana on Sunday, April 13 at 4 p.m. Local artist Bobby Horton will open the afternoon with an acoustic set accompanied by his trademark sense of humor and storytelling abilities.

“This show is a must see,” read an official post by the Shelby County Arts Council. “This show is pure musical fun and will make for a very joyful Sunday afternoon. One of Columbiana’s own, Micah Swain, is a lead vocalist and will blow you away with his incredible vocals.”

Led by founding director, professor Steven Potaczek, Lakeshore is a 10-piece band featuring a full rhythm section with horns, key players, guitarists and vocalists. The ensemble has performed on stages across the nation with performances of classic pop and R&B tracks from artists such as Bruno Mars, Steve Wonder, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and more. In addition to performing crowd favorites, the group has performed original songs written in-house by students of Samford University.

Members of Lakeshore were selected through an auditioning process in which approximately 150 students vied to be a member of the 10-piece outfit.

The following students are in Lakeshore:

  • Jacob McLendon – drums
  • Owen Thomas – bass
  • Briggs cooper – keys
  • Thomas Saunders – keys
