NORTH SHELBY – One of the nation’s most popular chicken chains is preparing to open and take over the Highway 280 corridor in Shelby County.
A new Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen is currently in the midst of construction on the property located at 517 Cahaba Park Circle, which is taking the place of the former Burger King that shut down earlier in the year.
Popeye’s, a popular chain known for its variety of Cajun-style cuisine, serves chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, signature chicken, chicken sandwiches and shrimp as entree food items. To go along with the meal, customers can order fried pickles, Cajun Rice, macaroni and cheese, Cajun Fries, mashed potatoes with its Cajun gravy, red beans and rice, and coleslaw. Every meal includes one of the restaurant’s signature biscuits as well.
The restaurant also serves a variety of dessert items to have after customers complete their meal, including a cinnamon apple pie, chocolate chip biscuits, strawberry cream cheese pie and strawberry biscuits.
The location along the northern border of Shelby County will be the chain’s second on the Hwy. 280 corridor. Popeye’s also opened up a location in Harpersville near the intersection of Hwy. 280 and Highway 25. The Harpersville location opened its doors in 2019.
As a whole, Alabama is host to 74 Popeye’s locations that are scattered all throughout the state.
No opening date is currently set for the new location, but work is already underway and the exterior of the establishment is nearly complete.
