ALABASTER – Adventurous children climbed inside a variety of vehicles during a day of family-friendly fun at the city of Alabaster’s third annual Touch-a-Truck.
Alabaster’s Touch-a-Truck entertained local residents on Saturday, April 5 from 1-5 p.m. at Veterans Park.
“We had a great turnout, and we were able to offer more vehicles for the kids and parents to view than ever before,” Alabaster Community Programs Manager Morgan Lawley said.
The event featured vehicles from local businesses, agencies and city departments, including the fire department and police department. Lawley said the event saw approximately 90 vehicles spread across the park with fire trucks, police vehicles, Jeeps, wreckers, 18-wheelers, a dump truck and heavy equipment.
“The sound of horns could be heard throughout the park from kids climbing in trucks and honking horns,” Lawley said. “The police turned on their sirens and let people look in their vehicles.
Additionally, attendees could grab an afternoon snack from the various food trucks that were in attendance while the Coca-Cola music truck provided a series of tunes throughout the event.
“The vendors said that they were busy the entire time,” Lawley said.
Lawley said Touch-a-truck made a good addition to the city’s Parade of Teams which was held that morning from 9-11:30 a.m.
“It allows families to enjoy a free event for the kids as well as an opportunity for them to recognize different vehicles used in our community,” Lawley said. “We continue to hope for growth and new options each year.”
