MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo officially named the on-campus driving range the Bill and Wynelle Sewell Driving Range at a dedication ceremony on Thursday, April 3.

The driving range is named after the late Bill Sewell, a 1973 graduate of Montevallo and former member of the golf team. His wife, Wynelle, is also a Montevallo alumna and a member of the UM Board of Trustees.

Along with the driving range, the Bill and Wynelle Sewell Endowed Scholarship has been established in honor of Bill’s memory. The scholarship will provide funds to a student-athlete each year from Madison County.

“We are very thankful for the generous contribution made by the Sewell’s,” said Mark Richard, vice president or Athletics and Special Programs. “Wynelle has been a great supporter of athletics. This endowed scholarship will assist student-athletes for years to come.”
