The Thompson Warriors continued rolling through Class 7A, Area 5 with a pair of dominant wins over the Prattville Lions.

Thompson defeated Prattville 10-4 on Tuesday, April 8 at Prattville High School before a 15-0 win on Thursday, April 10 at Thompson High School.

In game one, the Warriors opened up the scoring with a one-out RBI double from Olivia Tindell. Kadyn Bush followed it up with an RBI single to take the lead to 2-0.

After a scoreless second inning, Thompson capitalized on a pair of walks in the top of the third to go on a two-out rally with two on. Aubree Hooks plated a pair of runs with an RBI single to double up the lead, and Blakely Davis followed it up with an RBI single of her own for the 5-0 lead.

However, the Lions got their own bit of offense with two on and two out in the home half of the inning. An RBI single preceded two runs coming off an error, which cut the deficit to 5-3 after three innings.

The Warriors got even with Prattville in the top of the fourth with its own run off an error as Bush’s grounder to short led to an error and extended the lead to 6-3.

Kelsey Burden and Bush then each got RBI singles in the top of the fifth as Thompson continued to roll at the plate, making it an 8-3 game to put the lead more out of reach from the Lions.

Prattville got a run back in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double to cut the gap to 8-4, but Aubrey Bauer quickly restored the five-run lead in the top of the seventh with a lead-off solo home run.

Jillian Kato finished off the scoring with a two-out single that led to a run scoring off an error, securing the 10-4 win in the process.

Burden was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, Hooks finished a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, Bush went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI and Bauer was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run.

Hooks secured the win in the circle with eight strikeouts in 5.1 innings against one earned run, three total runs, three hits and a walk.

Thompson had an even more dominant win at home on Thursday thanks to a 13-run second inning.

Before that, Tindell once again kicked off the scoring with a one-out RBI double to put the Warriors up 1-0.

Then, in the second inning, a Hooks double and Morgan Adolphus single set up a two-run single from Mallory Flournoy to take the lead to 3-0. The next three batters reached freely off two hit by pitches and a walk, one of which scored a run with the bases loaded.

Tindell continued the scoring rally with a sacrifice fly that brought a run home. From there, Bush hit an RBI single, Tanner Crook stole home ahead of a Hannah Hobbs double and Hooks finished the rally with an RBI double to make it a 9-0 game.

However, that wasn’t the end of the rally as Adolphus singled and Flournoy got hit by a pitch to load up the bases. After a Prattville pitching change, Davis came in for Hamm and pinch hit for a two-run double, taking the lead to 11-0.

While the Lions secured the second out on the next batter, Crook and Tindell followed it up with back-to-back RBI singles to finish off the inning with a 14-0 lead.

The third inning came and went without a run from either team, but after a pair of quick pop outs in the bottom of the fourth, Flournoy came in for Tindell’s spot and launched a solo home run. That triggered the mercy rule with a 15-0 lead after four innings.

Bush took the win with three shutout innings against just three hits, striking out two batters without allowing a single walk.

Tindell, Bush, Hooks, Adolphus and Flournoy each finished 2-for-2, with Tindell earning four RBI,

Bush securing a walk and an RBI, Hooks had two RBI and two runs, Adolphus got two runs and Flournoy finished with three RBI and two runs.

After a 4-1 weekend at the Hornet Invitational, including a 4-0 win over defending national champion Orange Beach, the Warriors will finish area play with a series against the Hillcrest Patriots. Game one will be Tuesday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. at Thompson High School before game two on Thursday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m. at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa.
