INDIAN SPRINGS VILLAGE – Indian Springs sits atop Class 5A, Area 8 completely unblemished after making its way through a 10-game area slate without taking a single loss.

Springs accomplished the feat by sweeping the season series with the county-foe Montevallo Bulldogs thanks to a 6-0 win on Friday, April 18 at Indian Springs School.

Indian Springs accomplished the feat with key goals by three of its top goalscorers as it continued its recent attacking form at home in the area finale.

Springs benefitted from a hat trick by Ashna Mehra as the team’s consistent scoring threat put three goals into the back of the net.

She wasn’t the only one with multiple goals in the victory as Caitlyn Yang came up big on a pair of chances. She finished the match with a brace as she scored two goals against Montevallo.

Kennedy Doyle rounded out the scoring as she scored a goal as well in the six-goal victory over the visiting Bulldogs.

While the offense had a multi-goal day, the Indian Springs defense held up its end of the pitch as it didn’t allow a single goal over the course of the match to take the 6-0 win.

Springs will open up the playoffs at home against Beauregard on Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m. at Indian Springs School.

Montevallo will hit the road as the runner-up in the area and play the Sylacauga Aggies on Thursday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Sylacauga High School in the first round.
