PELHAM – Buck Creek Coffee & Smoothies, a coffee house located in Pelham, will remain open indefinitely after previously announcing that the company would permanently close its doors on Saturday, March 15.

In a statement, the company cited overwhelming customer support as the reason why the business chose to re-open its doors.

“While the company had previously announced a planned closure, the community’s response has inspired a change of heart,” the statement read. “The initial announcement of the potential closure was met with an overwhelming wave of support from the Buck Creek Coffee community. The heartfelt messages, expressions of love for the shop and earnest pleas to remain open deeply moved the Buck Creek Coffee team and prompted a reconsideration of their plans.”

Karen DeVito, the owner of Buck Creek Coffee, expressed similar sentiments when talking about why the business is sticking around.

“We were truly astounded and humbled by the incredible response from our community,” DeVito said. “We had genuinely made the difficult decision to close, but the depth of affection and the clear desire from our customers for us to stay open were undeniable. It became clear that Buck Creek Coffee holds a special place in the hearts of so many in Pelham.”

The company previously announced that it was closing its doors on Saturday, March 15 via a Facebook post on Friday, Feb. 28. In a statement, DeVito cited that the other businesses she and her husband Torre own, including Bama Burgers, were showing greater returns, compelling the duo to close Buck Creek Coffee.

“The demands of running multiple businesses have led us to focus on the ventures that deserve our time and energy the most,” the post read. “Though Buck Creek Coffee has been successful, our other businesses, including Bama Burgers, have shown greater returns, and we must prioritize where we invest our efforts.”
