CALERA – Live music echoed about Oliver Park as residents perused items from a number of vendors during the 14th annual Calera Strawberry Festival.

Calera Parks and Recreation hosted the Strawberry Festival on Saturday, April 26 at Oliver Park from noon to 6 p.m. with a host of vendors, food trucks, a car show and more for local residents to enjoy.

“It is a great day to be in Calera at the Strawberry Festival,” Council member Debbie Byers said. “Everybody’s out having a great time. The weather has cooperated and there’s lots of vendors, live music, food trucks. There’s something here for everybody.”

Families browsed the event’s vendors which were spread across the park and featured a variety of handmade goods such as wood-carved items, books, hats, candles, jewelry, coffee and plenty of homemade goodies such as peanut butter, pound cakes, lemonade and chocolate covered berries. Children in attendance had no shortage of activities to choose from with the park’s playground in full use, a swinging carousel present, an electric bull riding machine and plenty of snacks to feast on.

Throughout the duration of the event, several bands hit the stage and performed live music for the crowd with a variety of genres.

The following bands performed at the 14th annual Calera Strawberry Festival:

  • Flatcap Boggins
  • Automatic Slim
  • The OPOV Band

“This is one of things that Calera is all about,” Council member Calvin Morgan said. “We have a great turnout. The Strawberry Festival has been going on for several years and it seems as if each year it’s getting bigger and bigger. We want to invite families to come out and have a good time and listen to good music and enjoy the vendors and strawberries that are everywhere. Everybody is just having a good family fun event.”
