HOOVER – With a tradition unlike any other now in the rearview mirror, the turn of the calendar to May will shift focus for Birmingham golf fans to their own beloved Tradition.
The 2025 Regions Tradition will return to Greystone Golf and County Club’s Founders Course from May 14-18.
The biggest change from previous years is that the tournament is now pushed back a week, ensuring the final round no longer falls on Mother’s Day, which is May 11 this year, while remaining before Memorial Day weekend, creating a wide-open week for golf fans to enjoy.
Tickets for the tournament are currently on sale at cuetoems.com/regions_2025/tickets.aspx with admission set at $30 a day for Wednesday through Saturday. Kids under 15 and all active and retired military receive free admission.
Free parking and shuttle service is available on Thursday and Friday at 2600 Corporate Drive Birmingham, AL 35242 and Saturday and Sunday at 44 Inverness Center Prkwy Birmingham, AL 35242.
The celebrity pro-am will also return on Wednesday, May 14, gathering local sports and entertainment celebrities in what has become one of the most popular and highly anticipated events of the tournament week.
The Tradition has already confirmed multiple celebrities from the sports world, headlined by former Auburn star, NBA legend and “Inside the NBA” analyst Charles Barkley, who has gone viral for his interesting golf style and frequently plays in the pro-am.
Auburn fans will also be able to see head football coach Hugh Freeze, legendary football player Bo Jackson and former football coach and current U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville tee it off.
The University of Alabama will also be well-represented from stars both past and present. Former head football coach Nick Saban will join the current leader of the Tide, Kalen DeBoer, on the links along with head basketball coach Nate Oats and former Alabama quarterbacks Greg McElroy and AJ McCarron.
Other notable sports figures include Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and UAB head football coach Trent Dilfer. Paul Finebaum will also broadcast his popular radio show from the clubhouse.
Country music fans will welcome the return of Jacksonville native Riley Green as well as Enterprise native Jamey Johnson, famous for his song “In Color.”
Both have frequently held pop-up concerts alongside PGA Tour Champions golfer John Daly on the No. 14 tee during the pro-am. Both Green and Johnson fresh off releasing new albums in 2024, Green with “Don’t Mind If I Do” and Johnson with “Midnight Gasoline.”
In addition to those celebrities, a special moment will take place when Mountain Brook native Lulu Gribbin plays in the pro-am. Gribbin inspired many around the state with her recovery journey from losing her leg and hand in a shark attack last summer, and part of that journey included a return to playing golf.
The event raises money for local charities, including Children’s of Alabama and First Tee Birmingham as well as local schools through the Birdies for Charity pledge program.
The pro-am is just a prelude to the big action over the weekend as the top golfers from the PGA Tour Champions compete in the season’s second of five majors.
Last year saw Doug Barron shock the field to win his first major title, breaking from a tie with Ernie Els entering the final round to shoot a 6-under-par 66 and hold off a hard-charging Steven Alker.
A crowded field will vie for Barron’s title, including legendary golfers Bernhard Langer, Stewart Cink, Retief Goosen, Angel Cabrera, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Vijay Singh, Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie, David Toms and Mike Weir along with Els and Daly.
Angel Jimenez currently leads the season-long Charles Schwab Cup money standings with $1,159,727 with Alker, Els, Cabrera and Jerry Kelly filling out the top five. Three of the top five have been announced as competitors on the official website.
One of the notable figures who hasn’t confirmed his spot in the Tradition is Steve Stricker, the three-time champion and 2023 winner. Stricker is recovering from neck and back injuries he suffered in January but told Wisconsin.Golf that he is targeting the Tradition for his return.
His next Tradition win will join him with Jack Nicklaus for the most Tradition victories of all-time at four.
Gates open at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, 9 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
In addition to the golf, the annual concert will return on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Coca-Cola Pavilion after the conclusion of the third round. This year’s edition will feature Monsters of Yacht, a Nashville-based yacht rock band.
The tournament will also hold a Ladies Long Drive contest on Thursday following the conclusion of play.
Fans can also head to the spectator village by the driving range to buy food from local food trucks, buy merchandise, get a drink of water and play in a golf simulator. The White Claw Watering Hole on the 10th hole will also be open to all ticket holders to sit or purchase drinks or cigars.
Tickets for the Casamigos Club are also on sale for $95 a day and feature 18th green seating and access to exclusive cocktails that are available for purchase.
For those who would prefer to watch from home, Golf Channel will have live coverage from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament previously featured extended coverage and simulcasts on Peacock but that is not advertised this year.
