HOOVER – Locals browsed from a selection of vendors and enjoyed a quick snack from food trucks while children excitedly flocked over to try out Euro Bungees during this year’s installment of Celebrate Hoover Day.

The free annual citywide celebration took place on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hoover’s Veterans Park and treated attendees to a variety of attractions, including live music, food trucks, a car show and vendors. Children in attendance took full advantage of the event’s family-friendly activities which included inflatables, a petting zoo, pony rides, a swing carousel and Euro Bungee trampolines.

Celebrate Hoover Day first started in 2007 as a way to gather residents together and has continued to grow with each successful iteration. The event was completely free to attend and also had a selection of local businesses and organization’s present to share information with the public.

During the event, the Birmingham-based rock band More Cowbell took to the stage to serenade guests with a variety of cover songs from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s.

Among the many activities the event had to offer, the massive 10-foot apple pie returned with Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato himself taking the opportunity to shovel a large piece into a pan to be served to residents alongside ice cream.

As part of the Celebrate Hoover Day festivities, the city also hosted a Community Shred Day at Spain Park High school—offering the chance for locals to participate in spring cleaning around the house and get rid of up to six banker-sized boxes for free.
