DEMOPOLIS – Indian Springs School had to wait a little bit longer for it, but they officially booked their ticket to the Class 5A Final Four on Monday, May 5.
Indian Springs defeated the Demopolis Tigers 4-1 at Demopolis High School in the boys soccer quarterfinals to make their way back to the semifinals.
For Springs, it is their first time in the Final Four since they won the Class 5A state championship in 2023. The team didn’t qualify for the Final Four in either of their two seasons in Class 6A, but a return to Class 5A and a strong squad helped them get back to Huntsville for a chance at glory.
The game was postponed from its original date on Friday night, May 2 due to a wave of storms that rolled through the Demopolis area and much of the state. Despite the delay though, Indian Springs repeated the dominant road performance of the girls from when they played Elmore County on Friday.
Springs secured the opening goal of the match to take a 1-0 lead in the first half. After that, they doubled up their lead in the remaining minutes of the half, increasing the lead to 2-0 ahead of the halftime break.
That set up Indian Springs for success for the rest of the game.
Demopolis prevented the shutout by scoring a goal in the second half, but Indian Springs kept the offensive pressure going throughout the entire match.
Springs doubled their goal haul in the remaining minutes of the game, scoring a third goal and then a fourth as the visitors went up 4-1.
That finished off the three-goal victory for Indian Springs and a spot in the Final Four.
Springs improved to 16-4-3 with the win, and after taking two losses to Montevallo and Oak Mountain to end the regular season, they have outscored all three of their playoff opponents 14-2 to reach the semifinals. That included a first-round win over Valley and a revenge win over Montevallo in the second round.
Indian Springs will face off against Faith Academy in the Final Four on Wednesday, May 7 at 11 a.m. at John Hunt Park in Huntsville in search of a spot in the state championship game.
