CALERA – Calera resident Drew Bradshaw has announced his candidacy for election to the next Calera City Council.
“I’m running for City Council because I care deeply about Calera and believe it’s time for fresh ideas and proactive leadership,” Bradshaw said.
Bradshaw is a lifelong Calera resident and a 2005 graduate of Calera High School. He graduated from Troy University with a bachelor of business administration in 2009 and returned to Calera to raise a family where he currently lives with his wife and two daughters. He currently works as a financial analyst for a Birmingham-based media company.
“Our city has experienced rapid growth over the past several years, and while that’s exciting, it also comes with real challenges,” Bradshaw said. “I want to make sure we continue to grow—but in a way that’s responsible and sustainable. Our infrastructure needs to keep pace with that growth. That means working closely with county and state officials to advocate for improvements to our roads and highways that run through Calera. I’m committed to being a strong voice for our community and ensuring we’re planning for the future—not just reacting to it.”
Bradshaw aims to be fiscally responsible and said he will bring a budget-focused skillset to the City Council.
“In my role as a financial analyst for a Birmingham-based media company, I work with budgets, analyze revenue and help guide financial decisions—skills that directly translate to effective and responsible governance,” Bradshaw said. “I’m confident that this experience will serve our community well on the council.”
Bradshaw’s campaign is based upon the follow three pillars:
- Strengthen infrastructure: Support responsible growth by prioritizing upgrades to Calera’s infrastructure, ensuring it keeps pace with rapid development
- Support public safety: Work closely with the police department to address staffing challenges, reduce turnover and support efforts to retain experienced officers
- Be a voice for Calera: Actively advocate for the citizens of Calera at both the county and state level in order to make sure the community’s needs are heard, represented and addressed
Further information on Bradshaw’s campaign is available online on his official campaign Facebook page.
The next Calera City Council will be determined through the municipal election on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Currently, sitting members Debbie Byers and Calvin Morgan have announced bids for reelection with Council member Kenny Dale Cost running for election as mayor.
