HOOVER – Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato officially kicked off his re-election campaign on Thursday, May 8 with a video shared to social media.
The announcement video opens with a reel of headlines and national rankings that underscore Hoover’s rise as one of Alabama’s premier places to live, work and raise a family.
Recently named one of Livability.com’s Top 100 Places to Live in the U.S., Hoover continues to earn accolades for its affordability, schools and quality of life. Niche.com also ranks Hoover as one of the Best Places to Raise a Family in Alabama.
“Over the last nine years, we’ve strengthened our schools, championed local businesses and poured our hearts into making Hoover a shining example of what a community can be,” Brocato said. “Looking ahead, my mission is simple: keep building on this momentum so that Hoover remains not just a great place to live—but an even better place to thrive.”
The campaign’s theme— “Moving Hoover Forward”— aims to capture the essence of Brocato’s leadership and his deep-rooted belief in Hoover’s bright future.
“In the months to come, you’ll see a campaign that’s full of energy, full of heart and focused on everything that makes Hoover truly special,” Brocato said. “This is about unity, progress and the incredible things we can accomplish together.”
May is shaping up to be a banner month for Hoover, with milestones like the grand opening of Trader Joe’s on May 14 and the return of the SEC Baseball Tournament at the Hoover Met and the Regions Tradition presented by Coca-Cola which has continued to be a major PGA Tour Champions event held each year at Greystone Golf & Country Club. The highly anticipated tournament has not only brought world-class golf to the Hoover community but also made a lasting impact—raising more than $24 million for local charities, with Children’s of Alabama as its primary beneficiary. These upcoming events highlight the city’s growth, vibrancy and regional importance.
According to an official press release by Brocato, Hoover’s AAA bond rating—the highest a city can earn—showcases the financial strength and management that has flourished under Brocato’s leadership.
“I am looking forward to listening to and dreaming with the citizens of Hoover as we keep moving forward together,” Brocato said. “The best is yet to come for our great city.”
Brocato has a history of service with the city of Hoover. He began his career with the Hoover Fire Department in 1973. During that time, he became the first paramedic for Hoover. After 42 years of service, Brocato retired in 2015 as the chief of operations and fire marshal.
He received his paramedic license from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1974, his A.A.S. in Fire Science in 1979 from Jefferson State and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology in 1982 from Birmingham Southern College.
In 2003, the Commission on Fire Accreditation presented the chief fire officer designation to him. In 2008, he was one of seventeen in the country to be awarded the chief medical officer designation. It was in 2008 that he was also named commander of the State of Alabama Incident Management Team. He was a member for the past 15 years of the BREMSS Medical Direction Committee and served as the only paramedic working with physicians and nurses on groundbreaking care for cardiac patients in the region. Additionally, he served as an adjunct instructor with the Alabama Fire College teaching leadership and supervision to young men and women who aspire to move up in their respective organizations.
Brocato was sworn in as the 10th mayor of Hoover on Nov. 7, 2016.
