MONTEVALLO – Montevallo Elementary School was named a Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools Banner School for State School Board District 3 during a luncheon in Prattville on Monday, May 5.
CLAS recognized 32 Schools of Distinction across the eight State School Board Districts and announced the eight overall winners of the 2024 CLAS Banner Schools award at the luncheon.
The CLAS Banner School program was created in 2001 to recognize schools in Alabama that showcase outstanding programs and service to students. Each school was nominated for this award by their superintendent. A total of 234 schools were nominated statewide.
Each Banner School received a $750 check with the designation to support continued excellence.
“Congratulations to these wonderful Alabama public schools which provide excellent examples of the significant learning opportunities taking place in public education in Alabama,” said Vic Wilson, CLAS’s executive director. “Further, the stakeholders at every school are to be commended for striving for excellence daily.”
American Fidelity Assurance, Bailey Education Group, Curriculum Associates, Lathan Architects and Ward Scott Morris Architecture, Inc. are the sponsors of the CLAS program.
CLAS was founded in 1969 by a small group of school leaders to provide targeted professional development and support for Alabama’s public school administrators. The organization now serves 13 affiliates representing public school/school system leaders. CLAS provides the framework to connect dedicated school administrators and other successful leaders with a network for professional growth and support, and is the premier professional learning provider for administrators in public schools in the state of Alabama.
