PELHAM – The Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena has donated the prize money it received from a competition to donate to a local charity, as the complex continues to serve the city of Pelham.
VenuWorks Inc. recently hosted the VenuWalks Challenge, a company-wide fitness initiative aimed at promoting wellness, camaraderie and friendly competition across properties nationwide.
The challenge, which ran over the course of four weeks, encouraged employees from each venue to form teams and track their daily steps to compete for top honors and prizes. Among 13 participating locations, the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena’s management company finished second.
The team donated their $1,000 in prize money to Pelham Strong, a local nonprofit supporting families and individuals in the Pelham community.
“We are incredibly proud of our team—not only for their dedication and effort during the challenge but for choosing to pay it forward to a cause that means so much to our city,” said Seth Greenberg, the PCCIA’s executive director.
The top individual stepper from the team was skate coach Graham Newberry, who walked 754,767 total steps. Rounding out the team were Loredana Cretu, Taylor Kelley, Michele Newberry and Greenberg.
H.R. Cook, the vice president of VenuWorks Inc. and the founder of the VenuWalks Challenge, spoke on its importance.
“VenuWalks is about more than steps—it’s about building community across our venues,” Cook said. “The Pelham team’s donation to Pelham Strong is a perfect example of the values we hold as a company.”
