ACS Board of Education reappoints leaders for next year

ALABASTER – The Alabaster City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved the reappointment of Adam Moseley as president and Derek Henderson as vice president during the last meeting of the school year on Monday, May 12.

As the Alabaster BOE sees the 2025-2026 school year reach its close, it prepares for the next one by selecting its leaders for the next year which will continue to be Moseley and Henderson after their reappointments.

“Congratulations again to Mr. Moseley and Mr. Henderson for being reelected as president and vice president of the board,” ACS Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said. “We appreciate their efforts and the work they put in.”

Moseley was first appointed to the ACS Board of Education at its creation and has since been reappointed to successive terms including serving as its president. Moseley also serves on numerous local boards including as president of the Alabaster Arts Council. Moseley was reappointed to Place 1 on the BOE in 2022 by the Alabaster City Council with a term expiring in June 2027.

Henderson was first appointed to the ACS Board of Education in May 2013 and has served successive terms since, including reappointment as the board’s vice president. Henderson has been a resident of Alabaster for nearly 30 years and is a member with the Alabama Trust for Boards of Education. Henderson was recently reappointed to Place 4 on the ACS Board of Education by the City Council with a new term expiring June 2030.

“Thank you, Adam and Derek, for your continued leadership as we look forward to you all continuing to lead us through the next year,” BOE member Misty Johnson said.

During the meeting, the BOE approved several personnel actions as it works to staff its schools for the next academic year.

“I want to brag on our HR department and our principals for really working to fill the positions and vacancies,” Vickers said.

In other business, the Alabaster BOE approved the following items on the agenda:

  • Out-of-state field trips
  • Policy No. 6.87 revision
  • Trane system controller upgrades for Creek View Elementary, Meadow View Elementary and Thompson Middle School
  • Circool subscription for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Inventory deletions request
  • Budget amendment updates for fiscal year 2025
  • Financial statements, payroll, bank reconciliations and pay app No. 54
