After another successful soccer season, many of Shelby County’s best players made the All-Metro team for boys soccer.

The Oak Mountain Eagles, Thompson Warriors, Calera Eagles, Chelsea Hornets, Helena Huskies, Pelham Panthers, Spain Park Jaguars, Montevallo Bulldogs, Briarwood Christian Lions, Indian Springs School and the Westminster School at Oak Mountain Knights each received at least one selection to the First and Second Teams.

Oak Mountain had four First Team selections in forward Sam Collins, midfielders Gabe Capocci and Nate Taylor and defender Luke Jovanovich. Defender Adrian Gutierrez earned a Second Team selection while Roy Soldevila secured an Honorable Mention.

Briarwood forward Thomas Lanier and midfielder Sawyer Felton both earned First Team spots, goalkeeper Gavin Patterson made the Second Team and Ian Robertson and Cameron Harrington secured Honorable Mentions.

Helena’s Austin Lewis made the First Team as a forward. Agustin Rodriguez made the Second Team midfield and David Diaz, Devon Sasser, Darieon Collins and Ryan Borden earned Honorable Mentions.

Calera midfielder Matthew Doerfler secured a First Team selection, and his teammates Alex Garcia, Sam Njoroge, Peter Njoroge, Edson Gonzalez and Armando Garcia Perez made the Honorable Mention list.

Chelsea’s Luke Miller made the First Team as a defender and Max Wever earned a forward spot on the Second Team. The Hornets had four Honorable Mentions in Parker Dean, Cooper Baumbaugh, Harper Jones and Elijah Huggins.

Pelham’s Jeffery Palacios was selected as the First Team goalkeeper and defender Orlando Avalos made the Second Team. Acxel Avalos, Jair Camargo, Luis Bravo and Levi Clardy received Honorable Mentions.

Indian Springs’ Erik Ledvina made the First Team as a defender while his teammate Alex Hage was a Second Team forward selection. Avery Biga, John Hall Blackstone and Forrest Crawford earned Honorable Mentions.

Westminster OM’s Aiden Gamble earned a First Team forward spot, Sam Carter made the Second Team as a goalkeeper and Luke Likens, JD Barnes, Rocco Zaccagni and Walter Moore each earned Honorable Mentions.

Spain Park had two Second Team selections in midfielder Cole Russell and defender Hudson Alexander. Bobby Propper, George Everly, Andrew Walters and Ken Lim made the Honorable Mentions list.

Thompson forward Aram Arreola earned a Second Team place while Dylan Huerta, Dylan Ruiz, Erick Huerta, Yair Santana and Brayden Herrera received Honorable Mentions.

Montevallo’s Alexis Lopez received a Second Team selection for the midfield, and Irving Choto, Christian Diaz, Junior Alvarenga, Jesus Munoz and Erik Angel made the Honorable Mentions list.

In addition to the teams, Gardendale’s Miller Wood earned the Ray Woodard Metro Coach of the Year award for taking the Rockets to the Final Four in Class 6A, and Springville received the Paul Stanton Team Sportsmanship Award.
