Carl Frog Price, age 66 of Leeds, has been arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on a sexual abuse charge.

Price was booked into the Shelby County Jail on May 20 for sexual abuse in the first degree on a $15,000 bond. Under Alabama Code Section 13A-6-66, sexual abuse in the first degree is a Class C felony.

Price was indicted by the Shelby County Circuit Court in April. According to court records, Price was allegedly in sexual contact with a person who was less than twelve years of age at or near a home in Shelby County in 1997. Prior to his arrest, Price worked for more than 25 years as a teacher and math tutor.

According to the report, the victim was allegedly in the residence of Price while a sibling received tutoring. The victim reported that the crime occurred during tutoring.

Price’s indictment came after the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit conducted in-depth interviews with the suspect and presented the case to the Shelby County Grand Jury.

Price’s first court appearance is currently set for July 8 at 8:30 a.m.
