ALABASTER – The Alabaster City Council has set public hearings to consider the revocation of business licenses for Grace Spa AL LLC and TRU Acupressure Clinic LLC following recent investigations by authorities alleging that the businesses were engaged in illegal prostitution.
The public hearings will be held on Monday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Alabaster City Hall and will be open to the general public to offer input for or against the business license revocations. The hearings were approved by the Alabaster City Council on May 22 after being requested by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force and APD Chief of Police Curtis Rigney.
Grace Spa is located at 1334 First St. N., Alabaster, AL 35007 and TRU Acupressure Clinic is located at 844 U.S. 31 Suite I, Alabaster, AL 35007.
The consideration to revoke the business licenses for both Alabaster businesses comes after the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force investigators, alongside other agencies, executed six search warrants on May 14 at residences and businesses in Shelby and Jefferson counties after an investigation into several illicit massage businesses.
Search warrants were executed at Grace Space, TRU Acupressure of Alabaster, Lilly Massage in Chelsea, a residence in Shelby County, TRU Acupressure of Birmingham and a Birmingham residence. During investigation, authorities determined that the businesses were being used as a means of illegal prostitution. Authorities also identified that several female workers at the businesses were residing in the U.S. illegally and were potentially employed to perform the illegal sex acts.
Zhen Liang Ou, Aiqin Zheng and Ting Ting Chen were arrested by investigators on felony charges for promoting prostitution in the second degree after allegedly being found to be supervising, transporting or profiting from prostitution.
Grace Spa in Alabaster was investigated previously in September 2024 by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force and was found to have female employees engaging in illegal acts of prostitution. During a search, investigators seized items and documents in the business that were indicative of illegal activities.
During the public hearings on June 9, the Alabaster City Council will take public feedback for and against the business license revocations before voting on the proposed resolutions.
