ALABASTER – Thompson secured another major commitment as Cam Pritchett made his decision on his college destination ahead of his junior season.

Pritchett officially committed to the University of Oregon to play football for the Ducks according to a post from On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Monday, July 2.

Pritchett made his decision after taking an official visit to Oregon over the weekend while accompanied by junior quarterback Trent Seaborn. On3 reported that Pritchett decided between Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Tennessee and the Ducks.

Pritchett made waves as a sophomore after securing 77 tackles, 41 solo tackles, 14 tackles for loss and four sacks from the defensive line. He earned selections to the All-County First Team as well as the Class 7A All-State Second Team, both of which were the first selections of his career.

He also started the season with high expectations as a MaxPreps Sophomore Preseason All-American selection.

As a result of that production, the 6-foot-3, 231-pound edge rusher is ranked as an 88-overall three-star by 247Sports and a 90-overall four-star by On3. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 14 Class of 2027 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 31 edge rusher in his class nationally.

In addition to his top five, Pritchett received offers from Arkansas State, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and West Virginia.

Pritchett also plays basketball for Thompson and averaged 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while featuring in 17 games for the Warriors in the 2024-25 season.

Now, Pritchett will turn his eyes to his junior season in Alabaster in hopes of repeating as the Class 7A state champion with Thompson ahead of his future playing football in the Big 10 for Ducks head coach Dan Lanning.
