CHELSEA – Carrying a desire to bring the city forth and to make citizens heard, Jeff Honea II has announced his plans to run for Place 4 on the Chelsea City Council.
Honea made his future plans public in an official Facebook post on Monday, June 2, announcing to Chelsea his want to serve the city in a governmental fashion.
“Chelsea is an amazing city that I’m proud to call home,” Honea said. “This community has given me so much, and I truly believe in its future.”
A long-time resident of Shelby County and a graduate of Briarwood Christian School, Honea has spent most of his career as a local pharmacist, owner and chief executive officer. In Chelsea he currently is the owner and is a pharmacist at Chelsea Apothecary.
As a person who has been involved in many roles, Honea wants to use what he has learned to make sure that all of Chelsea’s citizens feel like they are listened to when they voice their opinions.
“As a local pharmacist, business owner and engaged community member, I understand both the challenges and the opportunities facing our city,” Honea said. “I’m committed to listening, learning and working hard to represent all voices—not just the loudest—to help make Chelsea even stronger.”
Honea has a close connection with the city and enjoys all the opportunities that it has provided him with. Now, he wants to give back in a big way to the place he calls home and help to guide its future.
“I’m running because I want to ensure our growth is guided by common sense, strong community values and a vision that puts people first,” Honea said.
With a large background in the medical field, Honea sees the duties of a City Council member in the same light as that of working at an apothecary, seeing the citizens like his patients he serves.
“I wish to serve this city in the same way I serve my patients at Chelsea Apothecary,” Honea said. “Quality care and attention to one’s needs are important staples of my work, understanding that your needs are my number one priority.”
Honea will be running against current incumbent Arthur Fisher Jr., who was appointed to his seat in October 2023 after Tiffany Bittner stepped down.
The municipal election for the city of Chelsea will take place on Aug. 26 at the Chelsea Community Center.
