“Today, we have a wonderful resource fair where we want to bring together the communities,” said Erica Lamar-Coney, Psi Xi Omega Chapter president. “It is what we like to call a “Get to know” for the city where we let the city get to know how our sorority can support their initiatives and endeavors and share what we bring to the community.”
Visitors were able to learn about the resources offered by various community organizations. The LifeSouth blood donation mobile truck was present at the park as well as representatives from groups such as Alabama State University, AARP, Children’s of Alabama, Publix, Survivors Rock, M4A, Legacy of Hope and more.
In order to enrich the lives of residents, the Psi Xi Omega Chapter regularly undertakes various initiatives, including Strengthen our Sisterhood, Empower of Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice and Uplift Our Local Community.
“I just want the community to know that we are here, we support them and we’re here to provide services,” Lamar-Coney said. “We thrive on supporting the community. It’s where we live, it’s where we work, it’s where we’re raising our families. So whatever it is we can do to pour back into the community, we’re willing to do that.”
