ALABASTER – Greg Farrell has announced his campaign for reelection as Ward 4 representative on the Alabaster City Council.

Farrell was first elected to serve on the Alabaster City Council in 2016 and was reelected following the 2020 election.

In his campaign announcement, Farrell expressed his gratitude for those in Ward 4 who voted for him to serve as their representative.

“I am honored to announce my campaign for reelection to the Alabaster City Council, representing Ward 4,” Farrell said. “Serving the citizens of Ward 4 and the city of Alabaster for the past eight years is a great privilege, and I want to sincerely thank you for the trust and support you continue to give me.”

Farrell reflected on the past four years serving on the council and believes that its current leadership has made meaningful progress for the community.

Farrell highlighted several projects the city has seen the completion of in recent years, including renovations to “Peanut” Davenport baseball field as well as upcoming developments including the city’s new recreation center and library and District 31 commercial development.

“It is rewarding to see the many projects we’ve launched come to fruition,” Farrell said. “These initiatives are transforming our city, further enhancing the quality of life for our residents.”

As a former firefighter, Farrell said he remains committed to ensuring the safety of residents and that Alabaster continues to partner with its first responders.

“I remain committed to ensuring the safety of Alabaster residents, continuing partnering with first responders and city officials to keep Alabaster one of the safest cities in Alabama and the country,” Farrell said.

Farrell previously served as a firefighter for the Alabaster police department for 30 years after joining in 1981. He retired at the rank of deputy fire chief.

Moving forward, Farrell shared that a key component of his next term, if elected, would be to enhance the quality of life in the city for senior citizens which he believes is an area the city is currently falling short in.

“I recognize a growing need in our community: a quality senior living community that serves our aging population,” Farrell said. “I recognize our senior population is growing so I will work hard and support the development of a quality senior living community where our senior citizens can truly call home, offering independent living, assisted living and memory care. This is an area where Alabaster currently falls short, so I intend to lead efforts to make this vision a reality.”

The municipal election in Alabaster will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
