Highland Lakes Women’s Club to hold Charity Backyard and Garden Tour

NORTH SHELBY – The Highland Lakes Women’s Club is set to host a Charity Backyard and Garden Tour this Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.
The event will feature five yards in the gated Highland Lakes community. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased on the Highland Lakes Women’s Club website TheHLWC.com or by contacting Terry Crutchfield at 205-873-3205.
Proceeds from the garden tour with benefit the American Cancer Society Birmingham Hope Lodge. According to the organization’s website, the lodge offers a free home away from hone for cancer patients and their care givers.
“More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need,” read an official post on the organization’s website. “Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment.”
The American Cancer Society Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge opened in 2000 is located in Birmingham and offers 33 guest rooms located near treatment centers in the area.
In addition to the garden tour, residents and attendees may enjoy food trucks, including Full Moon BBQ, Alsies Ice Cream Truck and Louvonnie’s in the gazebo in Highland Park. Full Moon BBQ will be present from 1-6 p.m., Alsie’s Ice Cream from noon to 4 p.m. and Louvonnie’s from noon to 4 p.m.
Louvonnie’s offers a variety of sweets, including cheesecakes, old fashioned cakes, cake pops and pies.
“Please stop by the park to support these wonderful businesses and enjoy some of their amazing food,” read an official Facebook post by Highland Lakes.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online or at the first home of the tour located at 383 Highland View Drive. Children ages 12 and under get in free when accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket. A list of names will be distributed to front and back gates of the community to allow access for ticket holders on the day of the event.
