NORTH SHELBY – One of the country’s fastest-growing and most popular chicken tender chains is headed to the Birmingham-metro area and is expected to open along U.S. 280 in North Shelby County.

Currently with 846 locations, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers will be adding its third Alabama location with a Shelby County restaurant along one of the state’s busiest highways. The new restaurant will be located in the former Lloyd’s Restaurant location and will sit next to the NewDay Car Wash.

Representatives with the company did say they are excited about their move into Birmingham soon.

“Raising Cane’s is excited to continue our expansion in Alabama and we are actively exploring opportunities to bring our signature ONE LOVE to Birmingham in the near future,” a Raising Cane’s representative said.

Currently, there are two other Alabama locations—one temporarily closed that is located inside Paty Hall on the campus of the University of Alabama and another in Mobile.

The fast-food chain is known for its chicken fingers, crinkle cut fries, toast and sweet tea, becoming a sensation across the country with social media fame.

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named to honor his yellow lab, Raising Cane, the restaurant chain has spread quickly in recent years with its traction.

Raising Cane’s is also an advocate in local communities, supporting more than 30,000 local organizations.

Graves said being active in the communities where the restaurants open is something that is important to him and the restaurant’s roots.

The menu is made up of five main combos:

• The 3 Finger Combo featuring three fingers, fries, slaw, toast one Cane’s sauce and a drink
• The Box Combo featuring four fingers, fries, toast, coleslaw, one Cane’s sauce and a drink
• The Caniac Combo featuring six fingers, fries, two Cane’s sauces, toast and a large drink
• The Sandwich Combo featuring three chicken fingers on a toasted bun with Cane’s sauce, fries and a drink
• The Kids Combo featuring two fingers, fries, one Cane’s sauce and a kids drink

They also have tailgate platters and you can add extra items to any order.
