ALABASTER – Kerri Pate has announced her bid for reelection as Ward 7 representative on the Alabaster City Council.

Pate has been a resident of Alabaster for more than 25 years and was first elected to serve the residents of Ward 7 in 2016 and was subsequently reelected in 2020.

“I am proud to announce my bid for reelection to the Alabaster City Council, proudly representing Ward 7,” Pate said in an official press release. “It has been a true honor to serve the residents of Ward 7 and the city of Alabaster for the past nine years, and I am eager to continue working to enhance our city even further.”

In addition to her time on City Council, Pate has served on the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and is currently on the city’s new Entertainment Committee.

“Serving on the Planning and Zoning Board for more than a decade has allowed me to play a vital role in overseeing a sustainable and long-term development plan for our city,” Pate said. “Thoughtful planning is essential to retaining Alabaster’s character while promoting economic progress, and I am committed to ensuring that our city continues to thrive.”

In 2016, Pate campaigned on several key initiatives that she felt were essential for the community and included an innovative recreation center, supporting smart growth and improving the city’s infrastructure.

“Over my last two terms, I have worked closely with my fellow councilmembers and other city leadership to achieve these objectives,” she said. “We have welcomed new businesses and restaurants and enhanced our city parks and senior center. We also completed our new police station, amphitheater and have begun construction on our leading-edge recreation center and library.”

Pate also shared that the Alabaster City Council has kept safety at the forefront and tackled traffic concerns by making improvements to hazardous intersections and completing the first phase of the Highway 119 expansion and starting the second phase.

As Pate looks toward the next election, she hopes to serve another term so that she can tackle improved living standards for senior residents in the city, among other goals.

“Looking to the future and if given the opportunity to serve another term as your council representative, I will advocate for a senior living community that provides all levels of care, allowing older residents to remain in Alabaster with their families,” Pate said. “Additionally, I want to take steps to preserve our city’s rich history by establishing an Alabaster Museum of History.”

Pate also shared that, if elected, she intends to continue collaborating with the city’s various partners—such as Alabaster City Schools, Shelby County and the Alabaster Water Board—to keep the city moving forward and to ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of Alabaster residents.

“Serving Ward 7 and the city of Alabaster is a privilege,” Pate said. “I am asking for your support on Tuesday, Aug. 26.”
