PELHAM – A new spin on a classic game has officially arrived in Pelham. Putter Up, a high-tech indoor mini golf facility located at Campus 124, held its soft opening on Monday, June 16, giving visitors their first chance to experience the modern take on mini golf that blends technology, competition and family fun.

The soft opening featured the presence of the Shelby County Chamber, who hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony that formally initiated Putter Up into the Shelby County business pantheon. Various members of the Pelham City Council were also at the soft opening, showing their support for the new business.

The facility will host a formal grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 28, with festivities planned to introduce the community to the innovative space and its unique features.

Founded by Lela Turner and her husband Ken, Putter Up was born from a desire to bring something new and engaging to the Pelham area—especially for local teens and families.

“There’s nothing for teenagers to do around here,” Ken said. “We played something similar in another town and this is what we came up with.”

Unlike traditional mini golf, Putter Up is built around a fully digital scoring system. Each guest can name their putter for personal identification, and players can follow their progress on digital screens at each hole, which display the layout and current leaderboard in real-time. The indoor facility features nine-hole courses, designed for casual fun and spirited competition alike.

“It’s all electronic and automated,” Ken said. “It’s also ADA-compliant.”

Ken also discussed why Campus 124 was the decided location for Putter Up.

“It wasn’t our first choice, but God led us here in a way that’s undeniable,” he said. “It’s unreal to me (that Putter Up is open)… We couldn’t have picked a better place.”

The course costs $14.99 for nine holes, with players 12 and under getting to play for $9.99. Putter Up also offers a discount for families of four. The company is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-6 p.m. on Sunday.

While details of the grand opening event on June 28 are still unfolding, the Turners are planning a community-centered celebration to officially welcome Pelham to their one-of-a-kind venue.
