CALERA – A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the grand opening of Bish’s RV on Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m.
Bish’s RV’s decision to open up in Calera was made as a result of sharing similar values with the city which helped it stand out compared to other communities.
“Calera really mirrors our values,” Bish’s RV Regional Vice President Justin Walls said. “There were a couple different cities we were looking at and Calera was very important to us because the people in Calera, the economy. It was really important for us to choose a place that had the same core values as us.”
Calera’s leadership felt the same way about the values of Bish’s RV. City Council Member Calvin Morgan was adamant on creating a way for the company to call Calera home.
“When they first came here, I got a chance to meet Justin (Walls), and we just clicked right off the bat,” Morgan said. “We had the same vision, the same kind of thing that we wanted for the city. Everything that we said we wanted for the city, they were offering it. Everything we could do to make a deal, that’s what we did to keep them here.”
The support Bish’s RV received from local leadership played a role in getting the location up and running.
“It was absolutely amazing,” Walls said. “There were a lot of trials and tribulations we went through early, but from City Council Members Calvin (Morgan) and Kenny (Dale Cost) and the whole support that they had, they helped us land this place and be able to have it come together in a timely manner.”
Cost believes the addition of Bish’s RV to the city shows that Calera is moving in the right direction.
“It was a blessing for them to come to our city to sell this product,” Cost said. “This is a community involvement of showing that Calera is moving forward.”
Morgan is pleased with the addition of another business to the community and believes Bish’s RV will be in a good position to be an asset to the community.
“It’s very important,” Morgan said. “This is what Calera is all about. It’s about business, it’s about family connection. What better way to connect than camping and spending time together?”
Bish’s RV’s Calera store is located at 85 Leah Ln.
