CALERA – With the Municipal Election, set for Aug. 26, approaching, candidates continue to enter the Calera City Council race. Krispin Watson is among the latest to do so.
“Krispin Watson is a proud Calera resident, mother, entrepreneur and dedicated community advocate with a heart for service and a passion for progress,” read Watson’s official campaign website. “She holds a degree in political science and currently serves as the public relations chair for the Birmingham Realtist Chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, where she uplifts Black homeownership and promotes fair housing initiatives.”
Watson officially announced her decision to run for a seat on the council in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 10.
“My campaign is centered around growth, opportunity and making sure every voice in Calera is heard,” Watson said. “I’m passionate about supporting local businesses, improving city resources and ensuring our community thrives not just downtown—but in every corner of Calera.”
Watson is a licensed realtor with Norluxe Birmingham and a mortgage loan officer with LeaderOne Financial. She hosts a podcast and is a published author.
Watson’s platform includes attracting businesses to Calera, creating job opportunities, supporting families and creating community engagement. She believes her professional experience will help her accomplish those things.
“As a licensed realtor, business owner and public speaker, Krispin (Watson) has spent years empowering families and entrepreneurs to build stronger futures,” read a post on Watson’s campaign site. “Now, she’s bringing that same energy, experience and vision to Calera City Council—to fight for local business growth, job creation and the resources our community needs to thrive. With deep roots in faith and a proven commitment to service, Krispin (Watson) is running because she truly believes in this city—and she knows that Calera deserves more.”
Watson’s shared that her motivation to run for a seat on the council stems from her love for Calera and desire to help it grow.
“I love this city and believe in its potential,” Watson said. “My goal is to help Calera grow in a way that is sustainable, inclusive and full of opportunity for generations to come.”
