Chelsea prepares to celebrate country at ChelseaFest and The Big Kaboom

CHELSEA – As the fireworks continue to ring in the distance from last year’s celebrations, the United States of America prepares to complete another trip around the sun.
The city of Chelsea is now preparing for the newest edition of its Independence Day festivities on Saturday, June 28 as the fifth annual ChelseaFest and the The Big Kaboom will take center stage from 6-9:30 p.m.
The largest event in Chelsea will welcome in the holiday in the large field located behind the Dairy Queen, with many events set to bring enjoyment to people of all ages.
Similar to last year’s Big Kaboom, the Yankee Doodle Dandy Children’s Bike Parade will kick things off at 6 p.m., as children will be invited to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, scooters and wagons before making their way down Chelsea Corners Way.
The festivities will also offer a chance for those in attendance to eat well with a wide selection of food trucks, which will also have tents, tables and chairs that are able to be utilized. However, the city is also allowing for citizens to bring blankets to create a picnic for their family.
Outside of the food, vendors will have an alley set up to stroll through, featuring a number of local vendors along with booths set up from the city’s churches and businesses.
The Kids Zone will provide the young ones an option of entertainment as well, showcasing inflatables and other games that are provided by churches in the city.
The entertainment for the newest installment of Chelsea’s Independence Day celebration will be led by the band Trotline, which has performed at ChelseaFest previously.
Trotline is a country and southern rock band that originated in Georgia in 1997 and consists of five members that travel to play in concerts around the southeastern portion of the United States. Some of their popular songs include “Away I Go,” “The Beach Song” and “Beautiful” among others.
The fireworks display for the night will begin at 9 p.m., with music playing in the background. The night will be simulcasted by KOOL 96.9 as well.
Parking will be available behind the old Winn Dixie and in the field behind the event itself.
