ALABASTER – Independence Day is approaching, meaning it is time to get ready for the city of Alabaster’s annual fireworks show.

The event will take place on Wednesday, July 2, at Thompson High School, beginning at 6 p.m. Residents from Alabaster, as well as surrounding communities, will get to experience a free fireworks show in a safe environment for children.

In addition to the fireworks, those who attend the event will have the opportunity to enjoy food from local vendors, music and games. There will be plenty of things for children to do as well, including bounce houses and other activities, all of which are subject to change. Light up toys, including swords, rings, balls and wands, will be available for purchase.

Alabaster Community Programs Manager Morgan Lawley is looking forward to seeing local families come out and have a good time celebrating the Fourth of July, while making an impact in the community by supporting local businesses.

“It just gives the citizens of Alabaster an option for a fun, free, family-friendly night of fireworks and fun,” Lawley said.

Before attending the event, the city of Alabaster highly encourages those planning on driving to familiarize themselves with the parking guidelines as well as the approved areas to view the fireworks. Certain roads will not be available for use after specified times.

The fireworks can be viewed from all parking areas as well as the open meadow spaces in front of the school, as long as the grass is not wet. No parking is permitted on any grass on school property. The State and County road right of ways are also not approved for parking.

Entrance via Kent Dairy Road. will be permitted at all times. Entering on Warrior parkway via Thompson Road is allowed until 8 p.m. After that, entering and exiting at Warrior Parkway will not be allowed until 30 minutes after the fireworks show comes to an end.

The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. and last approximately 13 minutes.

“Enjoy a memorable evening of good food, family, friends and celebration of the Fourth of July,” Lawley said.
